ITK Founder Named to Accounting Profession's Most Influential People List
Accounting Today called the founder and managing partner of IntrapriseTechKnowlogies “a reliable guide to accounting’s emerging trends” in a list that includes President Biden, Senator Mitch McConnell, Representative Nancy Pelosi and the chairman of the SEC.
Accounting Today announced Donny Shimamoto, CPA, CITP, CGMA, founder and managing director of IntrapriseTechKnowlogies (ITK) as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting for 2021.
Of Shimamoto, the publication stated, “A frequent speaker and writer on everything accountants need to know about how technology is impacting them, Shimamoto is a reliable guide to accounting’s emerging trends.” This is Shimamoto’s seventh time to be named on the list, having also previously been distinguished in 2013, 2014, and from 2017 to 2020.
Shimamoto has also been recognized as one of the Top Thought Leaders in Public Accounting by CPA Practice Advisor from 2012 to 2021 and was also named to CPA Technology Advisor’s 40 Under 40 list in 2007, 2009, and 2014. Shimamoto is a member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) Technology Advisory Group, was a past chairman of the AICPA’s Information Management and Technology Assurance Executive Committee and former member of its Governing Council, Assurance Services Executive Committee, and numerous other AICPA committees and task forces. He is also the current co-chair of the National Conference of Lawyers and CPAs.
In the supplemental issue, the editor wrote “This year’s Top 100 People, as with past years, are all honored for their high-profile roles in advancing the profession…they have made an exceptional impact over the past year and are primed to exert that influence in the year ahead.”
Other familiar faces that made the list include President Joe Biden, IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig, National Association of Black Accountants President and CEO Guylaine Saint Juste, CPA Trendlines CEO and Founder Rick Telberg, U.S. Secretary of Treasury Janet Yellen, AICPA President and CEO Barry Melancon, Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) Chair Joel Black, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler, and Tom Hood, executive vice president of Business Engagement and Growth for the AICPA-CIMA.
